NEW YORK, PARK AVENUE PENTHOUSE

Behind the doors of an exclusive address in the Big Apple lies the home of a passionate and wealthy connoisseur of modern art.

Among the impressive works in the penthouse collection are sculptures by British artists Sir Tony Cragg and Richard Deacon, paintings by Idris Khan and a neon installation by Welsh conceptual artist Cerith Wyn Evans.

Pieces of such visual impact and artistic value call for a deliberate yet audacious hand at display. The interior design studio entrusted with the task – the renowned London based firm NEBIHE CIHAN STUDIO – came up with a minimalist concept in which the works of art are integrated throughout the home, avoiding an overly “museum-like” effect.

The totally user-friendly rooms were furnished with pieces from the extensive Flexform collection. The prominent, high-end, Italian furniture manufacturer is known for the understated elegance of the contemporary designs by Antonio Citterio and for the excellent artisan craftsmanship that distinguishes all of the company’s products.

The light-filled living room enjoys an unparalleled view of the city skyline. Here, the Groundpiece sofa, upholstered in an elegant ecru fabric, is paired with the Bangkok ottoman and Fly coffee table. The Cestone console was placed behind the sofa, along with a Magi daybed, Guscioalto Soft armchairs and a Thomas armchair that are clustered around a Zefiro coffee table.

The Gipsy table, surrounded by dark brown leather-upholstered Morgan dining chairs, has pride of place in the dining room. The dramatic chandelier is by Damien Langlois-Meurinne.

The Grandemare bed, with its generously padded headboard, is featured in the bedroom, paired with Gipsy side tables and a Guscio armchair with Feel Good ottoman.

The guest bedroom is home to the Eden Plus bed, distinguished by its expansive headboard clad in dark brown cowhide, and paired with Jiff side tables for elegant, yet practical, night stands.
