Belgium, “Espace Jacqmotte” in Brussels
Jaspers-Eyers Architects designed the redevelopment project for the historic Jacqmotte building.
Espace Jacqmotte takes its name from the eponymous Belgian coffee company.
Built in 1860 and expanded in the 1950s, the building was later abandoned until, in the 1990s, it became the object of a major renovation and urban renewal project by architects Michel Jaspers & Laurent Jaspers. Their vision breathed new life into the historic Marolles district, transforming it into a beehive filled with boutiques, galleries and restaurants along the Rue Haute.
The Groundpiece seating system and Thomas armchairs, both designed by Antonio Citterio, were selected to furnish the spectacular penthouse, from which one of the city’s most enchanting panoramas can be viewed.
