St. Moritz, Badrutt’s Palace Hotel
Serlas Wing reinterprets the local architectural heritage with contemporary flair.
Entrusted to ACPV ARCHITECTS, the Serlas Wing is an expansion of the historic Badrutt’s Palace Hotel, in St. Moritz, opened in 1896. Set amid the mountain landscape, the new six-story building draws inspiration from the local surroundings and blends harmoniously with the neighboring architecture.
Historic charm and contemporary design come together in the elegant façade made of Dorato Valmalenco stone, typical of the region, and enhanced with deep recessed windows and characteristic bronze details. The innovative aesthetic of the cantilevered wooden roof is a modern break from traditional Alpine style.
The Serlas Wing is accessed by guests through a soaring triple-height lobby and is home to 25 rooms and suites whose design is inspired by local artisanal traditions. All of the rooms boast natural stone floors, wool-clad wall coverings and oak wood finishes that create welcoming warmth and textures within a sleek, contemporary aesthetic signature. Sophisticated Flexform furniture, like the Giano coffee table and eponymous console with marble top, add elegant, functional refinement. Center stage in the living area, the Perry sofa, ottoman and chaise longue create a fluid interplay of movement, accentuated by two Arnold coffee tables with their distinctive organic shapes. Rounding out the decor are two Tessa S.H. armchairs with seat and backrest in dark brown cowhide, and the Earl console-cabinet in dark veneered wood. All of the furniture was designed by Antonio Citterio.
