Sebastian Herkner
Sebastian Herkner (born 1981) studied Product Design at HfG Offenbach University of Art and Design. In 2006, he founded his own studio. Since then, he has designed furniture, lighting and accessories for manufacturers such as &Tradition, Cappellini, ClassiCon, Davis Furniture, Dedon, Duravit, Fritz Hansen, Janus et Cie, Moroso, Poltrona Frau, Thonet, and Wittmann.
His work has won numerous accolades, including the iF Award, the Iconic Award and the Elle Deco International Design Award (EDIDA). As Guest of Honor at IMM Cologne 2016, Sebastian Herkner designed “Das Haus”. Maison&Objet named him “Designer of the Year” in 2019. In 2021, he won the EDIDA Award for Best Designer of the Year in Milan. In 2022, he was one of the curators of Homo Faber, alongside Robert Wilson, Judith Clark, Michele De Lucchi, and Naoto Fukasawa, commissioned by the Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship in Venice.
Major design museums, including Die Neue Sammlung in Munich and the Vitra Design Museum, have included his designs in their collections.
