The 2022 edition of Tokyo Art Week, a key event organized in partnership with Art Basel, involved more than 50 exhibit spaces in the Japanese capital. Included among the museums and art galleries is the Flexform Tokyo flagship store, in acknowledgment of the fundamental relationship between contemporary art and design.
The showroom’s staging was completely revamped for the event and special emphasis was placed on the new pieces in the 2022 Indoor | Outdoor Collection, for which some very eye-catching settings were designed.
Working with event curator, Yukari Suzuki, three artists – Mafune Gonjo, Mine Tanigawa, Hiroki Uemera – were selected and tasked with creating site-specific installations. Their works, displayed in different settings, drew great admiration and enthusiasm from the visitors – clients, architects, designers and art and design afficionados – who turned out in great numbers throughout the event week.
